Original Gold Rush Colony, Mogo South Coast NSW Australia
You will find The Original Gold Rush Colony at 26 James Street Mogo, behind the small regional township of Mogo, just 200 metres up Annett St. from the Princes Highway.

This award winning tourism attraction, educational resource, functions venue and country accommodation facility has gone through much development over the years. Many people still refer to the Colony as "Old Mogo Town" - it's time to update!

Bakers were able to bake crusty high top loaves of bread in wood fired ovens of this type. They managed without a temperature gauge, thermostat, or fan forced heat. The ovens were usually built apart from the kitchen for fire safety reasons.
The Gaol (Jail) in the Original Gold Rush Colony Mogo between Batemans Bay and Moruya, is part of Batemans Bay history, as it is the most recently decommissioned lock-up of the area. Previously this transportable holding cell was used in the Snowy Scheme and in Goulburn.
The Butcher's Gallis at the Original Gold Rush Colony is a reminder of how beasts may be slaughtered and meat prepared. Most Home Kill on farms is still hung this way, but in more hygienic conditions.
