Community Member - Rod Slockee
Schools - Koorie Bushtucker Of The Eurobodalla
Position / Role:
Koorie Educational Officer

Rod is a wonderful historian and educator on all aspects of Koorie Life. Local Aboriginal Community Liason Officer Rod is co-ordinator for all our Koorie activities at the Gold Rush Colony. Rod is a leader in his field running our bush tucker walks, dreamtime stories, cultural stories, traditional gunya building and banner art.

By the eerie light of the camp-fire students get to listen to the
stories told of local Aboriginal Culture. These bedtime stories are
totally different to Brothers Grim. In movement and words, we are taken
into another world of kangaroos and emus, and snakes that populate our
country. Camp fires at the Original Gold Rush Colony are lit in
accordance with fire hazard warnings, more so because the original 14
acre property is bounded on 3 sides by the Mogo State Forest.
