The Original Gold Rush Colony Educational co-ordinators have put together a wide range of authentic and unique activities to choose from including Gold History, traditional games and life adventures of the 1850's Australian Gold Rush Days. We find the feedback from the students to be extremely positive.

Activity - Maze And Mural

The Original Gold Rush Colony offers a unique learning experience in the palisade timber maze. The maze is spread over 500 square metres, with a Eureka flag flying at the entrance.

Interchangeable information panels scattered through the maze have questions and clues about either the Eureka Rebellion or the 1850's Gold Rush.

South Coast Accommodation - From the Air

The Original Gold Rush Colony Mogo is set on 13 acres perfect for students to participate in Orienteering. With compass and map students are broken into groups to find their way around points of interest at the Gold Rush Colony.

This activity will require teacher participation and takes aprroximately 1 hour.

Schools -Old Fashioned Games

Today we play games for fun, relaxation, competition and interaction. In ancient times games were a way for people to develop skills that would help them thrive, work and survive. Games amuse and entertain us as well as improving our mental and physical skills. Students will rotate through a variety of games played by children of the 1850's, some of these include:

Community Member - Ross Hosking

The Gold Rush Colony Mogo offers students the real experience of the 1850's school lesson. Our school master with cane will acquaint students with an educational experience learning things from the Education Act or the 1800's.

Events - School Master Mr Wombey

The Original Gold Rush Colony offers a true Australian History activity in Life On The Goldfields. Two experienced co-ordinators dressed appropriately in the 1850's school "Master" and school "Mam" take the students back in time to imagine what it might have been like to live in the Gold Rush days of Australia.

The Original Gold Rush Colony has experienced guides to lead students through the 1850's Gold History Tour including Gold Panning. Student groups engage in an HSIE (Human Society In Its Environment) curriculim based exploration of:
