Fair Go Attitude Puts Old Mogo Town In Lights

Maureen Nathan- Nominee For Prime Minister's Employer Of The Year Awards

Local Recognition:  Old Mogo Town owner Maureen Nathan , who was a nominated for the Employer of the Year Awards, was pictured with Minister for Workforce Participation Sharman Stone. A flexible work environment and giving people a fair go led to Old Mogo Town's nomination at this year's Prime Minister's Employer of the Year Awards.

Owner Maureen Nathan joined other businesses at a special dinner at Parliament House in Canberra last Wednesday night, to help celebrate and recognise excellence in the employment of people with disability, enabling them to gain and keep a job. Mrs Nathan said she was honoured and humbled by Workability's nomination.

She said it has always been her policy as an employer, both in her pharmacy career at Lockhart and Batehaven, as well as at Old Mogo Town, to provide a flexible work environment. "By giving people a fair go, providing support in the workplace, and being committed to finding solutions, much can be achieved to enable people to grown and reach their full potential in the workplace." she said.

The Gold Rush Theme Park and its associated accommodation has a diverse range of activities, which Mrs Nathan said makes it the perfect place for her and her management team to implement the ideals for which the business was nominated. "The finalists and winners of the awards not only created these flexibilities, but changed the work environment to suit even the blind and deaf" she said."It was inspiring to see the levels to which these organisations have gone to enable their employment profile."
