Event Date:
5 Jun 2012 - 24 Aug 2012

Update 24/08/2012

The repairs to the storm damage are finally complete. The Original Gold
Rush Colony owners and staff are delighted with the way John Aust and
his team have been able to recreate the 1850's look for the new shed
housing the Rock Crusher and Betsy the Steam Engine. The tours will once
again be able to include the pulsating sound of the stamper battery.

Original Story 05/06/2012

Wild winds and heavy rain took its toll on some of the magnificent trees in and around The Original Gold Rush Colony.

As soon as the winds came up the Gold Rush Theme Park area was closed to the public. One massive tree with a girth of aabout 2.5 metres fell across the shed housing the rock crusher and Betsy the steam engine. The crown shattered the water race and punctured the post office roof.

Thanks to the undaunted efforts and spirit of the outdoors team, and with speedy assistance from Skyline, the road was cleared and the area fenced off so that the Heritage Day could go ahead.
