The Old Gold Folk Club

Folk Music At The Gold Rush Colony Mogo

Events - Old Gold Folk Club - Tavern Sessions
Event Date:
16 Mar 2014

Sunday March 16 is a free concert hosted by the Old Gold Folk Club in the Diggers Rest Traven at the Original Gold Rush Colony Mogo. An afternoon of local musicians entertaining the crowd is planned from 4pm to 7pm, with the monthly concerts featuring traditional and roots music. This Sunday will be hosted by members of the local “Oddy family band”, an acoustic folk band of father and sons. There will also be performances by some of the players from the Seaside Ukulele orchestra and there will be an opportunity for budding performers to step up and help entertain the crowd.

Audience participation and walk up performances are greatly encouraged so all players of all ages and abilities are more than welcome. If any players or singers would like some musical backing the Oddy boys are more than happy to accompany so long as you ask, and some chord music is always helpful. So grab your instruments and your tunes and come along. During interval there is a folk jam planned, so for those who just want to bring and instrument or a song it can be included in the group play.

The Old Gold Folk Club will be having a break over April so this will be the last chance to get your fill of live folk music until their return on the first Sunday in May, when the fire should just about be ready to take the chill out of the coming winter air.

For further details call Georgina at the Gold Rush Colony on 4474 2123.
Admission is free; bar service and great meals are available - but NO EFTPOS. Remember bring an instrument, your singing voice and bring a friend.
