Bird Watching Day And Night

Flights of Birds Into The Colony

Staying overnight in the South Coast Accommodation's self-contained cabins at the Original Gold Rush Colony in Mogo, gives the keen birdwatcher an ideal base for a bird watching experience.

During your stay you can observe the Australian Native birds (and immigrant wild and domestic birds) that live on and visit the 13 acre property. The birds that flock to the natural lakes and in & over the Australian bush setting of the Gold Rush Colony offer a stunning spectacular of colour and symphony of call sounds. Enjoy the early morning warblers and the evening homing calls.

There is also a bushwalking trail around the perimeter of the property that enables you to sight some of the many bird inhabitants of the Mogo State Forest, at a gentle pace.

The NSW South Coast is a relatively unspoilt nature region and offers a native habitat to the Australian coastal and bushland birds.

Bird-watching binoculars and a book on Australian Birds, to help you identify the different species, are available for Hire from Reception.

Mogo Bird Sightings Register - Starting from the year 2001

Tour Guide and Outdoors Manager, Corey Peterson is a font of knowledge about birds he has sighted on the property. He and other Colony Community members have compiled a list of the birds that have been sighted on the Original Gold Rush Colony grounds and along the surrounding Mogo State Forest bushwalk surrounding the property on 3 sides.

The alphabetical list has been divided into some common name categories for your convenience.
